After reading First three books by Chetan Bhagat, I was eagerly waiting for the next book. The forth one ‘2 States – The story of my marriage’; as the name indicates its about the marriage between Krish who is a Punjabi guy and Ananya who is a tamil gal. I ordered the book through flipkart, which is a venture by Chetan’s juniors at IIMA. They are giving it at 30% discount. It’s a good deal. I’m planning to order a couple of books from it. I already started adding books to the wishlist.
As expected the novel is good, it made me read it in a single stretch. The weekend travel was worth is with reading it. With mocking Punjabis and Tamilians he is injecting serious thoughts regarding marriages, family relations etc. The humour is good as always. He is also connecting some incidents from his previous work ‘Five point someone’.
Synopsis from http://chetanbhagat.com/books/2_states/
“Love marriages around the world are simple:
Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy.
They get married. In India, there are a few more steps:
Boy loves Girl. Girl loves Boy.
Girl’s family has to love boy. Boy’s family has to love girl.
Girl’s Family has to love Boy’s Family. Boy’s family has to love girl’s family.
Girl and Boy still love each other. They get married.”
I suggest this book for reading, its fun out there. And thanks to Chetan for this wonderful work, good job done there.
